Youssouf Togoïmi

Youssouf Togoïmi , born the March 26th 1953 with Zouar in Tibesti, dead the September 24th 2002, was a Chadian Politician.

He was minister in several governments of Idriss Déby, in particular Minister for the justice of 1990 to 1993, Minister for the defense of 1995 to 1997 and Minister of Interior Department for a small period in 1997. He returns in rebellion at this period, in particular to defend the interests of his ethnos group, the Toubous.

October 12th, 1998 it founds MDJT, group rebels combatant the government. The movement will have a certain support of the France and a massive support of the Libya. But these two states then will push it to make peace with the government. Youssouf Togoïmi dies in turbid circumstances in Libya on September 24th, 2002 after having gone up on a mine in the north of the Chad. It did not have to decide yet if it were to engage on the voice of peace or to continue the armed struggle against the Chadian dictatorship. The Libya and the number two of MDJT are suspected of having eliminated it.
