Young girls in uniform

Young girls in uniform ( Mädchen in Uniform ) is a German film (1931) of Leontine Sagan.

Synopsis

14 years old Manuela von Meinhardis, girl of an officer, is sent after the death of the mother in an institution of Potsdam reserved to the girls of the high society whose families know financial problems. The history occurs before the First World War and the methods of education of the boarding school are characterized by the Prussian seed-planting drill and the absence of human heat. The girls of soldier must be high there to become mothers of soldier. As Frederic Large the the principal goes up on the floor and proclaims day orders as at glorious times of the Guerre Seven Year old. The effects of this Preussentum on a sensitive young girl, full with tenderness and imagination, are catastrophic, it has difficulties of adapting to such conditions, and its school performances feel some. It finds a little heat and comprehension only near one young professeure, Miss de Bernburg, with which it falls passionately in love. When this one offers to him to replace its too worn effects one of its own undershirts, Manuela feels enivrée. The catastrophe is announced, when the young girl, after a representation of school theater particularly succeeded, very happy her success on scene and having drunk a drink which one in secrecy had alcoholized a little too much, feels a little euphoric and acknowledges in front of everyone her love for her professeure. The consequences are terrible. The director of the boarding school threatens Miss de Bernburg to whom it allots all the responsibility for the congédier, and Manuela is recluse in the room of insulation. In its despair with the idea that the professeure which she likes now will give up it, she tries to give herself death by throwing top of the staircase. Misfortune can be avoided at the last time by a courageous intervention of all his/her comrades. The cruel director, who now sees herself obviously put in her wrong, is overcome - at least morally. Because the ringing of curfew, by which the film is completed, states clearly that one returned to a behavior of barracks.
