Young Lust

Young Lust is a song of the British group of progressive Rock Pink Floyd. This song appears on the album The Wall , left in 1979.

Composition

The song, in G major and four times (4/4), was instrumental in an original manner, but that changed during the production of the song. From one duration 3 minutes and half, David Gilmour sings, but Roger Waters makes in '' [[: in: backing vocals backing vocals]] '' during the refain. The song is Hard rock, which is rare at Pink Floyd, but with a slow Tempo of progressive Rock.

Young Lust follows Empty Spaces on the album which forwards with the song. For this reason, radio, one played the two songs together.

Analyzes words

Like the other songs of The Wall , Young Lust tells part of the life of Pink, the main character of the album. On this song, this last speaks about its sexual frustation. Young Lust constitutes a pastiche of the life of the young British in the Années 1960. Roger Toilets, the author of the song, explains:

That points out much a song to me that we recorded years ago, and who was called The Nile Song . Dave sings that in a very similar way and I find brilliant the way in which he sings Young Lust . I adore the vocal parts, but it is intended to be a parody of the life of any rock group on the road. When I wrote this song, the words were completely different. In the beginning, it was in connection with to make the school buissonnière, to wander downtown, to wait in front of cinemas porns and Sex shop S, and tricks in this style. To be interested by the sex without being able of nothing from this point of view because of the fear. This song exists some share on a demonstration, but now, it is completely different on the disc. It is the result of the work which we made together, in particular with Dave Gilmour and Bob Ezrin, which has by-product The Wall with me. Dave did not like the structure of the agreements of the song which I had written at the base, then it was changed so that then, it seemed forever that it could not be appropriate nowhere.

Telephone dialog

At the end of the song, there are part of dialog with Pink and an operator on the telephone; it is at this point which Pink realizes that his wife misleads it. The dialog of the end of the song was made with Los Angeles. Roger Waters called his friends and it had the idea to record the operator who spoke. Roger Waters spoke about it in an interview:

At the end of Young Lust , there is this telephone call. There is an enormous jump, conceptually, of Young Lust with somebody who calls at his place, whereas it is in round in the USA. I adore this operator, I find that it is splendid. It did not know at all what occurred. Good, that was prepared a little, but must the way which it has to take down and say “have there someone else beside your wife? ” is amazing. She really entered the trick very quickly
