the Young Guard is a revolutionary song. The first version was written by Montéhus on a music of Saint-Gilles towards 1920.

This song of the working youth of France was written before the Congrès of Turns founder of the French Communist party. Before the Second world war, he was sung as well by socialist youths as by Communist youths. The original version of Montéhus started with: “We are young France… ”. The communist movements substituted for it: “We are the Young Guard… ”. The first two verses are of Monthéus, the others were added thereafter. One replaces often today the “new order” of the last verse by “new world”.
