Yoshio Taniguchi

Yoshio Taniguchi (in Japanese: 吉生谷口) is a Architecte Japan contemporary board .

Biography

Yoshio Taniguchi was born with Tokyo in 1937. He is the son of the architect Yoshirō Taniguchi (1904-1979). After secondary studies, it is graduate of architecture and mechanical engineering of the Université Keio in Tokyo in 1960. It continues its studies with Harvard and obtains in 1964 a master in architecture and design.

Of 1964 with 1972, it exerts within the cabinet of Kenzo Tange and supplements its training there. In 1972 - 1973, it turns over to the the United States as lecturer in architecture to University off California of Los Angeles.

In 1975, it founds its cabinet of architecture in Tokyo: Taniguchi, Takamiya and Associates and become the president about it. Starting from 1981 it teaches regularly at the university of Tokyo, as well in architecture as in technology.

In December 1997, MoMA (Museum off Modern Art of New York) chooses Yoshio Taniguchi for a repair and an enlarging of the museum with 18.600 M ² additional. The unit extends from now on from the 53e to the 54e which occurred and occupies, on six stages, an entire surface of almost 58.000 m ². The architect wanting to bind the past to the present, some elements, whose frontage of Philip Johnson of 1964 and garden of sculpture, were preserved and integrated in the architecture of the new building which privileges circulations. The opening to the public took place the November 20th 2004.
