Yoshio Akamatsu

Male character of the novel, manga and film Battle Royal. It belongs to the class the 3rd B of the municipal college of Shiroiwa (department of Kagawa) which takes part in the Program.

Being the boy N°1 (G-1), it is him the first to be left when the play starts.

In the three versions, Akamatsu is taken of panic since he knows the rules of the game. It has as arms a crossbow. During the play, it is him the first to have to kill one of his/her comrade Mayumi Tendô by drawing a square with the head to him. It had reconsidered its steps to kill his comrades more easily. It is Shuya Nanahara which discovers Tendô died in first. Akamatsu was placed on a platform located above the exit. This last draws to him above but Nanahara spleen.

In the manga, Nanahara tests to convince it that they can be left there, in vain, Akamatsu killed already Tendô and thus decides by fear of playing the game until the end. But at the time when it will draw on Nanahara, Noriko Nakagawa leaves, surprising the two men. Akamatsu changes target and aims Noriko Nakagawa right below him. Nanahara catches the square which was intended to him and launches it to the shoulder. This one falls and disappears.

In film and the novel, even thing except:

- Nanahara does not try to convince it - Noriko appraît after Akamatsu is touched - Akamatsu is not on the platform but in height on a slope.

When it took again its spirits:

- In the novel, Kazushi Niida collects and points the crossbow on Akamatsu which seeks its weapon. The square is drawn accidentally by Niida which kills Akatmatsu. - In film, Akamasu seeks its weapon while panicking. When it Niida collected its weapon for giving him, Akamatsu sinks to him above. Niida has of another choice to only draw to him in the heart. - In the manga, Niida collects the weapon and voluntarily kills Akamatsu.

More infos

Akamatsu was largest of its class. In spite of its breadth, it is not extremely physically. The others make fun of him and Ryuhei Sasagawa always seeks to make him evil. But there is not nicer and shy person that him. He likes to play his Game Boy.

He is played by Shin Kusaka in film.
