The Colonel Somé Yorian Gabriel (or Yoryan Gabriel Summons) was a Militaire and voltaic statesman (of current the Burkina Faso).
It was one of the founders of the army of the Upper Volta on November 1st 1961, with in particular the Général Aboubacar Sangoulé Lamizana (which were president of the country between 1966 and 1980) and the general Baba Sy, inter alia former officers of the French Army being placed at the disposal of their colony of origin at the time of its accession to independence in August 1960.
It occupied at the time of its career several positions of responsibility within the army and of State among which aide-de-camp of the president Maurice Yaméogo, Minister of Interior Department, chief of general Staff Voltaic and general secretary of Defense.
He was assassinated the August 9th 1983 during the Révolution Burkinabe carried out by Thomas Sankara (and which had begun the August 4th). He is since the accession of Blaise Compaoré with the capacity (in 1987) considered as the first Martyr of the revolution Burkinabe.
