Yorba Linda

Yorba Linda is a city located in the county of Orange, in California, with the the United States of America. With the census of 2000, its population was of 58.918 inhabitants. It is the city where Richard Nixon in 1913 was born the president, one can find there his library presidential. According to the list of CNN, Yorba Linda is the 21st best city of the country on the level of quality of life, and the second of the state.

History

The area was occupied by the Indians Juaneño. In 1769 a forwarding Spanish crossed this area and among the soldiers Jose Antonio Yorba was. In 1809 Yorba required of king d' Espagne a ground concession and receipt 62.000 acres (either 250  km ²) which became Rancho Santiago de Santa Anna in 1810. In 1834, its third wire Bernardo Yorba combined the grounds of his/her father with those which were given to him by the governor Jose Figueroa, creating one of largest the greatest ranches of the time at this place. A section of these grounds were sold with the Janss Corporation in 1907, and it subdivided the ground and resold it for agriculture and manufactures. The city was connected to Los Angeles by the Pacific Electric Railway. The small town started to increase during the Sixties and after the failed annexation proposed by Anaheim in 1963, Yorba Linda was built-in 1967. The site of the Don Bernardo Yorba Ranchhouse is listed as a California Historical Landmark .

The president Richard Nixon was born in Yorba Linda in 1913 and lived there until in 1922. Its house is listed as a National Historic Landmark and California Historical Landmark . Close to its house is the Bibliothèque and Presidential Musée of Richard Nixon.

According to the Office of the census of the United States, the city has a surface of 51,4 km ², including 1,3 km ² of water and 50,2 km ² of ground, the share of the water being of 2,47% of the total.

Demography

According to a census of 2000, there are 58.918 people with Yorba Linda, including 19.252 households, and 16.094 families resident in the city.

On the 19.252 households, 44,8% have a child of less than 18 years, 71,3% are married couples, 8,3% do not have husbands present, and 16,4% are not families. 12,4% of these households are made of a person including 4,7% of a person of 65 or more.

The Middle Age of the population is 37 years. For 100 women it there 96,6 men. For 100 women of 18 or more, there are 93,1 men.

The average revenue of a household is of 59 075,24 € ($ 79.593), and that of a family of 63 928,59€ ($86 132). The men have an average revenue of 49 519,16€ ($66 712) against 31 042,26€ ($41 820) for the women. The average revenue per capita is of 26 850,97€ ($36 173). Nearly 2,5% to the families and 3,0% of the population lives in lower part of the Poverty line, including 2,9% of those in 18 year old lower part and 5,4% of those of 65 and more.
