Yoncq (river)

The Yoncq is a French Rivière which runs in the department of the the Ardennes (08). It is an affluent of the Meuse out of left bank.

Geography

Yoncq is born on the territory from the commune of Saint-Pierremont. Its course is overall directed south-west towards the North-East. It is thrown in the Meuse (left bank) on the territory of the town of Mouzon, with the limit of the commune of Autrecourt-and-Pourron.

Yoncq crosses or skirts the territory of the following communes, all located in the department of the the Ardennes (of upstream downstream):

Saint-Pierremont, Berlière, Beaumont-in-Argonne, Yoncq, Autrecourt-and-Pourron and Mouzon.

Hydrology

The average interannual flow or module of Yoncq, with the confluence of the Meuse is worth 0,80 m ³ a second for a catchment area of 49,7 km ². Superb old Abbey Notre-Dame, Gothic of XIIe, XIIIe and XVe centuries (MH). Buildings of the XVIIe century of the old monastery Benedictine (MH). Holy-Genevieve vault of XVe century. Houses known as " espagnoles" (MH). Gallo-Roman site of Flavier. Tourist train Picasso Mouzon-Stenay and Mouzon-Bridge-Maugis. Port on the Channel of the East. River walks towards Stenay.
