Yolande de France

Yolande de France or Yolande de Valois , born with Turns the September 23rd 1434, died with Chambéry the August 28th 1478, girl of Charles VII, king de France, and of Marie of Anjou.

She married in 1452 Amédée IX (1435 † 1472), duke of Savoy, count d' Aoste, prince of Piedmont, and had:

Her husband was little been willing to control his states, being of weak constitution and prone to the epilepsy and prefer to devote himself to piety. He left Yolande, sharp and energetic, to control in order to better face the Savoyard barons in open opposition. Widow, it ensured the regency of the duchy until in 1478 in the name of her Philibert son Ist.

She had to face the ambition of Charles Bold the, duke of Burgundy. Traditionally, the dukes of Savoy were combined with the Swiss confederated , but the rising power of the duke of Burgundy letting predict a profitable agreement. It leant for the Burgundian one, which risked moreover to take it out of clipper by an agreement between Burgundy and the Milanais, and her brother Louis XI of France sought to reverse it and found Philippe of Bresse as regent. After the defeats of Bold with Grandson and Morat, it leant again towards France and the Swiss ones, but Charles did it captive. She escaped at the end of a few months, but died shortly after.
