Yoke and Hourtin Lake

The lake of Hourtin and Carcans is more the natural big lake of France. It extends from north in the south, parallel to the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, over a maximum length of 18 km for a maximum width of 5 km, and belonged to the Big lakes landais

History

Contaut, at the northern end of the Lake, accommodated an important base of seaplanes. This base became, thereafter, a center of incorporation of the National marine. Currently this base is the object of a project of vast reconversion out of tourist complex.
