Yohkoh is a satellite of solar exploration launched since the Japan. It associates instruments in the fields of the Ultraviolet S and the x-rays.

In December 2001, a breakdown made lose the orientation of the satellite during the solar eclipse of the December 14th (the sun being used like locates orientation); the batteries discharged (owing to lack of orientation from the solar panels) and the operator lost control of it.

In Japanese, Yohkoh means ray of the sun .
