Ylikiiminki
Ylikiiminki is a municipality the North-West of the Finland, in the area of Ostrobotnie of North.
Following an agreement signed in September 2005 between the two municipalities, Ylikiiminki will be attached to the town of Oulu in 2009 what will make more than to triple the surface of the city (for an increase in only 2.5% of its population).
Geography
The commune is very wide, intermediary between the modest communes and densément populated coast and those wild of the Lapland or Koillismaa. Largely marshy and deprived of relief, it is crossed by the river Kiiminkijoki.The center town of Oulu, the provincial capital, is located at 35 km of the administrative center of the commune.
It is surrounded by the municipalities of Yli-Ii in north, Pudasjärvi in the North-East, Utajärvi in south-east, Muhos in the south, Oulu in south-west, Kiiminki in the west and Haukipudas in the North-West.
