Ylang-ylang field
The Domaine Ylang-ylang is located at the south of the Mauritius, close to Old man Large Port and with the foot of the Field of the Hunter.
The Ylang-ylang is large a Arbre with sheets simple, oval, with the very odorous flowers yellow-green. The particular shape of this tree is obtained by étêtage of the branches to facilitate the gathering of the flowers. It can reach five meters. As of its third year, gatherers and cueilleuses from there will be detached the flowers carefully. The ylang-ylang is gathered after the buds opened. After these flowers were collected, they must be treated quickly. It is a flower very required by the perfumers, because it enters the manufacture of many perfumes.
The Ylang-ylang Field is single in Maurice, with his 100 hectares and some 15000 trees. It is also only the Distillerie producing of Ylang on the island.
Distilling in the open air, at the edge of a beautiful small river, is ancestral, with its old traditional still; and the method of manufacture of essential oils has not changed for 200 years!
