Yichang

Yichang (宜昌; Pinyin: Yíchāng) is a city of the province Hubei in China. It is a river port on the Chang Jiang, the last before the Barrage of the Three Throats. The prefecture of Yichang counts approximately: 3890000 inhabitants on: 21084  km ², the surface of the city being of 200  km ².

In the vicinity the cave of Sanyou is, where the known poets of the Dynastie Tang met, Bai Juyi, his/her younger brother Bai Xingjian, and the poet Yuan Zhen. By the cave they took as a starting point more known poems of China.

In 2005, total GDP was of 60,8 billion Yuan S, and the GDP per capita of: 28819 yuans.
