The Turn 1919 mark the creation of the famous yellow jersey. This distinctive shirt is created in full turn! It is at the beginning of the 11th stage Grenoble - Geneva, the July 19th 1919, that Eugene Christophe is covered very first yellow jersey of the history.
The color of this shirt was chosen by Henri Desgrange compared to the color of the pages of the newspaper the Car (later the Team), the principal sponsor of the moment (with the manner of the Giro).
