With spring of year 184, Zhang Jiao, founder of sect taoist Taiping (“great peace” which will reign when Han are eliminated), raises the Chinese people against the Dynastie Han, considered to be declining and corrupted. The partisans of Zhang raise on their face a yellow scarf (黄巾, huángjīn ) in rallying sign, which gave its name to the revolt (traditional characters: 黃巾之亂; simplified characters: 黄巾之乱; pinyin: Huáng jīn zhī luàn ).
Besieged, Han launch a call to the assistance and order a campaign against the yellow Turbans which amount per hundreds of thousands. The powerful ones and famous generals, such as Yuan Shao, CAD CAD, Sun Jian and My Teng answer this call. On his side, the general Lu Zhi recruits volunteers. Among them, Liu EIB, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei which, according to the History of the Three kingdoms , swears fraternity and from there will fight the yellow Turbans. They come to assistance of the general Dong Zhuo. The brothers of Zhang Jiao, Bao and Liang, are beaten by CAD CAD and Sun Jian. The destiny wanted that Zhang Jiao dies the same year of disease, irony of fate for that which was called “the large healer”.
The Yellow Turbans will dissolve with the death of their chief. The commander of the imperial forces, He Jin, subdues the remainder of the rebellion. Zhang Bao and Zhang Liang are them also killed with the combat. This rising is one of the factors of the fall of Han.
