Africa
- Boom of exports of rubber in Angola, which take the step on those of ivory and wax. Towards 1885, rubber represents the three quarters of Angolan exports.
- Decline of the Trans-Saharan trade between the loop of the Niger and the Morocco to leave the years 1870.
- 146 European foreign posts are installed between Loango and Luanda, on both sides of the mouth of the Congo. The principal warehouse of this trade is to 400 km of the coasts, with the Pool Malebo. After the stop of the draft négrière towards 1860, the basin of Congo exports especially Ivoire, rubber, Gomme copale, Palm oil and Noix of cabbage tree. The United Kingdom
