June 19th 1846. First match of baseball in the USA. The New York Base-Ball Club beats the New York Knickerbockers 23 to 1. This match founds in fact baseball which is distinguished from now on clearly from its ascending such Cricket, the rounders or the play of the poisoned ball. Following this meeting and thanks to will have of Knickerbockers, of tens of teams are formed with New York. Attention with the legend of Cooperstown (1839), completely discredited today by the American historians of baseball. This patriotic fable, which gave the opportunity to the USA to celebrate in large pump the centenary of the play in 1939, appears in 1907: it is the conclusion of the Commission Millets whose task was to go back to the sources of baseball.
