  • Shelves of Alalakh (level IV, towards -1450, -1370) in the kingdom of Alep. They inform us about the life of a small capital of a kingdom of Syria, provincial center apparently prosperous, in spite of political instability. The excavations released the palate of the king Niqmépa and his/her son Ilimlimm, which shows a rupture with the local architectural tradition, where one distinguishes the first steps from a new form in connection with known architecture hittite with old of iron under the name of hilani.

    • the crucial role of the royalty in Syria with Recent Bronze is the administrative office. The crowned character of the royal function is less obvious than in Egypt and at Hittites. It seems that the kings forsook their role legal and given up the military obligation partly with the caste peerage-book. The king is the owner of a large company. Its practical relationship with the population consists in requiring a series of contributions and services personal making it possible to concentrate in the palate a certain quantity of richnesses which is employed at ends of prestige and luxury. None the Syrian kings is a “Large King” and they are necessarily servant of one of the “Large Kings” (Egypt, Babylonia, Mitanni, empire hittite or Assyrie). Their political action is subordinated to that of the sovereign to which they are attached.
  • Files of the small kingdom of Arrapha, depend on the Mitanni, found in the palate of Nuzi, in Mésopotamie (v. -1450). Some 4000 documents inform us about the activities of the king which concern primarily the administration and the management of its goods. A whole world of farmers and craftsmen raising directly of the palate (“nourished palate”) must deliver to the king royalties and work in given quantity. Other shelves inform us about the life and the problems of the great landowners whose houses were released.
