Ans (in Walloon ) is a common French-speaking of Belgium located in Walloon region in the Province of Liege.

Bordering the town of Liege, she knew a coal past. The coal was exploited as of XIIIe century and the commune counted up to 4 coal mining. Industrial, commercial, rural or residential, the commune with the multiple faces also sees each year the arrival of the cycle race Liege-Bastogne-Liege (usually in April).

Years forms with Liege, Seraing, Herstal, Saint Nicolas's Day and Flémalle the agglomeration of Liege (480  000 inhabitants). Since the fusions of communes, Ans also Alleur, Xhendremael and Loncin includes.

Since 1999, Ans is twinned with association “Country of Years” in Périgord. This association gathers six municipalities which carry all the ending of Years: Badefols-at Ans, Boissière-at Years, Chourgnac of Years, Barn-at Ans, Holy-Eulalie-at Ans and Saint-Pantaly-at Ans. A common history gathers the two areas. In XIVe century, the lord of Hautefort-in-Périgord, suzerain of all the area, would have married one of his daughters to a Lord of Years in Belgium (the Flandres at the time). It brought to him, in dowry, of the territories whose several villages bear today still the name of Years.
