Year pontificio
The Annuario pontificio (in French pontifical Directory ) is published each year in Italian under this name since 1912 by the authorities of the Roman Catholic church. It makes however following various semi-official, semi-official or official publications of the same type having borne various names since the 18th century.
This directory contains the list and the coordinates of all the dignitaries and institutions of the Roman Catholic church. It as well counts all those which occupy of the official stations in the government of the Church as the holders of all the Diocèse S and of any other entity of the territorial organization of the Church in the whole world.
The Annuario pontificio presents in its first pages a list of the Pape S since saint Pierre to the current pope. Though the Annuario pontificio is not declared any more since 1924 like an official publication, its list made de facto function of official list of the popes recognized by the Roman Catholic church (see on this subject the introduction of the article detailed Liste of the popes).
