Year Post
An Post (in French La Poste ) is the public corporation charged with the postal service in Irish Republic since 1984. An Post is member of the Universal postal union.
An Post was created in 1984 when, according to the terms of the Postal & Telecommunications Services Act of 1983, the postal service of the Department of the Stations and Télégraphes (P&T) was divided into two new semi-official organizations, An Post and Telecom Éireann (this last now renamed Eircom ). Today, in spite of a stock exchange dimension in continuous decrease, An Post is one of the principal employers of the Irish State and constitutes the vastest sector of the civil service of the country.
