Year 1701
Anno 1701 is a Video game of management and strategy in real-time, left on PC in 2006, published by Sunflowers, developed by Related Designs and distributed by Deep Silver. It is held during the period of the golden age of the navy with veil, at the time of the colonization of Americas.
An adaptation for Nintendo DS left on June 8th, 2007 to Europe.
Course of the play
Like its famous predecessors, his principle consists in developing a colony while providing for its needs by the installation for dwellings to accommodate colonists, to make them evolve/move to the statute of aristocrats by providing for very their needs by the establishment for industries, of fleets, to ensure the provisioning of resources and to defend them of it against the pirate raids and corsairs, and of armies, to defend its territories and to conquer the new ones at the expense of its adversaries, while balancing some the accounts to avoid the deficit involving the bankruptcy and the abandonment.New functionalities appear, the such invasions of rats or grasshoppers destroying harvests and plundering the warehouses, of earthquakes, hurricanes and volcanic eruptions to the devastators effects, as well as the trade with foreign civilizations bringing certain functionalities in the form of " talents" special.
Levels of civilization
Each level of civilization reflête the level of economic development and cultural of the population of the player. There exist five levels of civilization each one giving access to new buildings and new possiblities of production. The inhabitants do not pass on the level of civilization according to whether if their needs are satisfied. However, more their level is high, more it is difficult to satisfy their needs, and thus to pass at the higher level.-
Pioneers : The pioneers are the first inhabitants to explore new grounds and have basic needs such as food and a downtown area (community). During the development of the colony, the pioneers will claim two other goods in order to become colonists: fabric and a vault.
- Colonists : This stage, of new line productions make it possible to satisfy the colonists and of new needs necessary to the progression appear: alcohol (beer and/or rum), tobacco and education (school).
- Citizens : On the third level of civilization, the city shelters from now on citizens. New needs appear, whose satisfaction is necessary to the development of the colony: oil with lamp, chocolate and leisures.
- Commercial : At the fourth level of civilization, merchants arrive in the city. The merchants need jewels and perfumes to reach the highest level. Their need to be able is also to satisfy via the senate. Moreover to pass on the level of Aristocrats, the player provides to the merchant goods colonial goods. Those can be obtained only by the trade. The foreign cultures have each one a different colonial good:
- Ivory (Indians)
- Jade (Chinese)
- Furs (Iroquois)
- Talismans (Aztec)
- Aristocrats : The aristocrats carry out an easy life and react with sensitivity if their requirements in colonial goods are not satisfied. If the player manages to reach a certain number of aristocrats in the city and that it has sufficient colonial goods, it can build prestigious constructions such as the castle and the headlight. These constructions of prestige have a positive effect on mood of the population.
Foreign cultures
The foreign cultures live islands which they never leave. They are however ready to establish diplomatic relations with the other inhabitants of the world to make trade with them. These tributes grant their confidence to the players who appear worthy to them and propose fraternization about it. That confers special commercial advantages, like the possibility of buying colonial goods and of reaching special competences of these tribes.The following foreign cultures exist:

Secret diplomacy
The special actions help the players in these companies, and the secret actions make it possible to handicap the human players IA or players, but not the foreign cultures. After the construction of a house, it is possible to seek all the secret activities at the school or the university.The following special actions are available:
- the Vivres reduce the requests for goods of the population during one limited time.
- the Maître bomb disposal expert makes it possible to explode the awkward rocks, to release from the space of construction.
- the Croisade increases the force of the military units.
The following secret activities are available:
- LEspion is given the responsability to discover important information concerning of other players.
- the Démagogue makes it possible to stop the production of goods of an adversary.
- the Saboteur is a specialist who allows to stop the collection of goods of an adversary.
- the Traitre persuades the enemy troops to change camp
- the Révolutionnaire encourages the population to express and to rebel. Riots follow.
- LEmpoisonneur contaminates the wells of the unfavourable colonies and causes epidemics of plague there.
- LArtificier reduces the buildings of the unfavourable players in ruins.
- the Pickpocket skin unfavourable players.
- the Flatterie is an option making it possible to improve the reputation near the players.
Events
Distinguished guests
The player can receive the visit of various distinguished guests. They bring with them of the gifts and the present the purpose of which are to improve the level of satisfaction of the population.There are nine different distinguished guests, including the Queen:
- LArmurier manufactures tools and helps you to develop the colony as well as possible.
- the Chariot with beer supplies free out of beer the inhabitants, throughout all its passage in the colony, in addition to increasing the alcohol reserves.
- the Prêcheur intinérant sells letters of indulgence which increase the treasure of the player.
- LInventeur brings its knowledge to the city while diverting the population with its experiments. Moreover, the research projects take less time, for all the duration of its presence in the downtown area.
- the Capitaine reduces the costs of construction of the ships.
- the Compagnie of the travelling acrobats increases the level of satisfaction of the city throughout all their spectacle.
- the Commander assists in the construction of the units. In this case, all the military units are less expensive.
- LÉvêque makes a sermon in the downtown area. It protects the city from the catastrophe which threaten it.
- When the Reine returns a visit, the player must be able to offer something to him.
Catastrophes
From time to time, from the catastrophes come to disturb the peaceful life that the population carries out on the island. They start by chance and have devastators effects on the buildings and the population.
