Yaqub ibn Killis
Yaqub ibn Killis Abou Al-Faraj Yaqub ibn Yussef or Ibn Killis (born in 930, died in 991 with Baghdad) was a vizier with the service of the Fatimides.
Biography
Yaqub ibn Khillis, was born in Baghdad into 930 within a Jewish family. Its family settled in Syria, then it left in Palestine to make trade there. It leaves then in Egypt, or it works as to advise financial for the Kâfir Regent who appreciates it personally. Expert, it is made vizier and converts with the Islam into 967. He studies the Fiqh, and after the death of his friend Kâfir, he is imprisoned. He however bought his freedom while leaving for the Ifriqiya or he obtains the confidence of the Caliph Muizz. After the conquest of Egypt by Fatimides in 973, it goes back there with all the court. In Egypt, it was responsible once again for finances and the economy of the caliphate, and it is named once again vizier, after the dismissal of Jawhar Al-Siqilli by the new Caliph, Al-Aziz. As a vizier, it supports propaganda fatimide (da' wa) and began the construction of the Al-Hakim mosque, as well as the university Al-Azhar. He exerted this station, until his death in 991.
