Yannick Stopyra , born the January 9th 1961 with Troyes, is a player of Football French. This attacker of point powerful and very gifted of the head, formed with the US Redon, in Brittany, was made known general public at the time of its passage to Sochaux, with the whole beginning of the year 1980. It took, with Bernard Genghini and Philippe Anziani in particular, a big part with the excellent results of the club (vice champion of France in 1980, semi-finalist of cut of the UEFA the following season) and known its first selection with the autumn 1980, vis-a-vis Greece.

He played then a season in Rennes, without much success, then joined Toulouse right after the Euro 1984. Associated with Ferratge, then Marcico, it took down several places of honor in championship of France and took part, at the time of the season 1986-1987, out of cut of the UEFA, with four extraordinary meetings against Naples de Maradona and Spartak of Moscow.

But more than in championship, it is out of world cup that Yannick Stopyra known its hour of glory. Selected by Henri Michel for the voyage to Mexico in 1986, it was one of the principal craftsmen of the remarkable course of the Blue ones. Associated in attack with Dominique Rocheteau (three matches), Jean-Pierre Papin (a match) and Bruno Bellone (a match), it marked two goals, taken share with the two victories of anthology against Italy then Brazil and carried out services of very high flight which were worth to him to be named, with its fellow-member Manuel Amoros, in the team-type of the competition.

Regarded a time as the successor of Bernard Lacombe, he did not know unfortunately same longevity as his prestigious elder. Transferred to Of Gironde from Bordeaux, it started there a very fast decline, perhaps due to a lack of eagerness which always slowed down it in its career.
