Yamina Benguigui

Yamina Benguigui (born with Lille on April 9th 1957) is a French director .

Biography

Parents Algeria NS Kabyles, it begins its career as assistant from realization, in particular near Jean-Daniel Pollet, before founding with Rachid Bouchareb a named production company " Bandits". It produces between 1990-1991 a cultural and musical emission weekly related to the immigrant communities in France, " Meetings " , on France 3. It carries out many documentary: the series Women of Islam , for France 2, in 1994, then the House of Kate, a place of hope (1995), on a processing center of drug-addiction.

Its documentary Memories of Immigrants , realized in 1998 for Canal+, has a strong impact at the time of its exit into the room. It recalls there the history of the Immigration Maghrébin E through testimonys which give an account of the search of identity and of the effects of the Racisme. In 2000, it carries out short-measuring Pimprenelle , for the collection Pas of stories! 12 glances on racism with the daily newspaper (2001). In 2001, it presents its first feature film of fiction, Inch' Allah Sunday , which collects many prices.

It presents with Gilles Schneider the emission " Place of République" on France 2, then " From one bank to another of Méditerranée" in 2003. It is president of FIPA for 3 years. Its documentary Baited, Mohamed, Chaïb… engaged for France , on integration in the army, is diffused on France 3 in October of the same year, it receives with Florence the price " It Sigillo delle Pace" for the whole of its work. It is knight of the Légion of honor, Arts and the letters and the National order of the merit.

It currently prepares documentary on the place reserved for the squares Musulmans in the French cemeteries ( the Paradise, it is complete? ), and a series of baptized televised fiction Baited .
