Yakovlev Yak-18

The Yakovlev Yak-18 (designation NATO " Max") was a plane of military training and civil two-seater Soviet. It entered in service in 1946.

History

In May 1945, Yakovlev decided the design of the two-seater Yak-18 like plane of drive. It conceived it to replace old the UT-2 and Yak-5 in service in the Soviet Air force and the civil aviation. The new apparatus took off one year later, propelled by Shvetsov M-11 5 cylinders out of star and equipped with an entirely retractable landing gear. Its design made it extremely easy to build and to maintain and its production continues always today (55 years later) in two of its alternatives: Yak-18T 4 places and Yak-54 2 places. The Yak-18 became the plane of standard drive in the military and civil flying schools. The China used it with large scales and of many nations also employed it.
