Yakovlev (in Russian: ОКБим.Яковлева) is a aeronautical Constructeur Russian (Soviet at the time of the the USSR). The prefix of the research department is the Yak . The research department was founded by Alexander Sergueïevitch Yakovlev in 1934 under the name of OKB -115.
The name Yakovlev is very much used by the countries of the old block of the west, but in Russia this name is shortened in Yak (in Russian: Як ) followed by the name of the plane.
