Yaeyama islands
The Îles Yaeyama are an archipelago in the south-west of Japan, belonging to the islands Ryû-Kyû. This archipelago is located between Okinawa Honto, the large island of the archipelago of Okinawa, and the island of Taiwan. Yaeyamas are made up of 31 islands from which 11 are inhabited.
The three most known islands of the archipelago are Ishigaki-jima, Taketomi-jima and Iriomote-jima. Ishigaki-jima is the most populated island archipelago, it is here that the airport is. The other islands are served by boat. Ishigaki is to approximately 260 km of Taiwan, and at approximately 40 minutes of plane of Okinawa.
Though slightly populated (a great total undoubtedly lower has 15.000 inhabitants), these islands are well-known of the Japanese: it is a tourist destination appraisal, more preserved much than Okinawa-honto, with beautiful beaches protected by the coral barriers, and where the underwater possibilities of making diving are numerous.
