YaCy

YaCy is a Search engine based on the principle of a network posts at station (P2P). This software is developed in Java and is currently installed on hundreds (at the end of 2006) of computers called YaCy-peers or stations-YaCy . Each station-YaCy launches robots of indexing which analyze the found pages. The results are recorded in a bank of distributed data (indexes).

A YaCy network is characterized by a decentralized architecture. All the nodes (Peer S) YaCy are equivalent and there does not exist principal waiter. On a station YaCy turns in mode Crawler or in mode proxy.

The access to the search engine is done via a local Web server which presents a field to introduce the key words and provides the results in the form of a usual Web page.

The software is delivered under license LPG.
