Xtul

Xtul (“chtoul decides”) is a small village of the state of the Yucatan, with the Mexico. It is on the Northern coast of the Gulf of Mexico, close to Sisal. It was a minor seaport for the industry of the Sisal at the 19th century but it declined with the development of more modern installations with Progreso. Xtul collects also salt thanks to a system using the tides; the trade of salt in this area goes back to times précolombiens.

Xtul is also the place where in 1963 approximately 30 members of the Process Church off went the Final Judgment . They underwent there violences of a Cyclone during three days. Their tribulations lasting this time worthy of a biblical apocalypse enabled them to test their faith and are the base of the theology of the Process Church and their writings The Xtul Dialogs .
