Xmoto
X-Motor bike is a Video game created by the Danish Rasmus Teislev Neckelmann in May 2005. Clone of the play Elastomania, it is a Jeu of simulation of Motocross in 2D. Since, Rasmus Teislev Neckelmann stopped the project whereas version 1.0, ultimate version of X-Motor bike was to leave. French Nicolas Adenis-Lamarre took again the project a few months earlier (in April 2006). He was joined at the end of 2006 by second French, Emmanuel Gorse.
Play
The goal of the play is to collect all the strawberries level in concerning, then of touching the Fleur to finish. If the head of the pilot touches a wall, the ground, or unspecified matter, one lost, and the level should be started again. Each level generally contains a way more or less traced by the strawberries to collect, with difficulties, such as for example of the jumps, mines, loops, tunnels, slopes or rises stiff, etc
Gameplay
All the interest of the play lies in its Jouabilité. To pass the various obstacles drawn up in a level, the motor bike should be handled as well as possible. With this intention, one uses five possible controls on the motor bike:
- acceleration (only on the aft wheel)
- braking (on the two wheels)
- push before (the pilot pushes the Guidon and causes a rotation forwards motor bike)
- pulling (even principle that push but in the other direction)
- the reversal (the pilot " retourne" , the aft wheel becomes the nose gear wheel, and vice versa)
Another interest of the play, once the finished levels, is to finish them as soon as possible. Also it possible in the play to have in sight is the " record mondial" time for each level. In addition to the world records, it is possible to create " rooms" , the principle is the same one as the world records, but those are limited to a group of players.
Levels
X-motor bike is accompanied by an editor of levels. Although this one is developed still little, it offers to the play one important lifespan thanks to the many contributions of the players. Indeed, in addition to the 43 levels included in the play, of the hundreds are downloadable on http://xmoto.tuxfamily.org/, or directly since the play. It is also possible to add scripts to the levels (programmed in Lua) to create events (for example to reverse gravity).
Recently a new editor of levels was born. He uses Inkscape to draw the levels, thus the levels lose little by little their cubic coast to become more rounded.
Versions
Version 1.0.0 of X-Motor bike will leave when the authors are satisfied with the code. Each major change of version (0.x) corresponds to an important technical change.-
0.1 : first version of X-Motor bike (May 2005) written in 1 month only
- 0.2.x: the play connects to Internet (initially to download the list of the records)
- 0.3.x: the play manages its data via Sqlite, a base given (the players will retain especially that it is since one can play in multi players)
- 0.4.x: rewriting of the management of the states of the play (in order to allow a greater maintainability of the play).
