Xibalba

In the Maya Religion, Xibalba is the name of the underground world directed by the gods of died and the disease. The word Xibalba means " place of the peur" or " place of the fantômes". The entry of Xibalba is traditionally located in a cave at the neighborhoods of Cobán, with the Guatemala. Xibalba is described in the Popol Vuh like a place under the surface of the Earth. The Popol Vuh describes also the road of Xibalba (which was regarded by the Maya as the dark part of the Milky Way) and its ground of play of ball. Xibalba was visited by the twin heroes Hunahpu and Ixbalanque.
