Xiangyang (Chinese traditional: 襄陽, Chinese simplified: 襄阳, Pinyin: Xiāngyáng) was a Chinese city built during the dynasty of the Han. This city with great historical value, located on the Han river, accommodated large numbers of influential well-read men, politicians and men of talent during its two thousand years of history. During the time of the Three Kingdoms, the city was in the middle of several historical events since it was located at the crossroads of the three kingdoms combatants: Wei, Wu and Shu. This old city was also largely known for assiégement Mongolian to which it took share of 1267 with 1273. Xiangyang forms with another old named city Fancheng with which it amalgamated the city which is known today under the name of Xiangfan, in the province of the Hubei.
