Play

A precursor

Xevious is one of the first Shoot them up with vertical run and it brought various innovations to the kind. It inaugurates initially the concept of Boss in shoot' EM up. It brings also the possibility of carrying attacks on the ground while launching bombs, in addition to the traditional air shooting.

It is also one of the first plays which comprises hidden no-claims bonus which are not mentioned in the instructions, but which appear following certain secret operations; in the case of Xevious , it acts of turrets and flags which give 10 ' 000 points or an additional life.

This play comprises also a Easter egg : while bombarding continuously, all at the beginning of the play, the corner lower right of the screen one reveals the name Evezoo, pseudonym of Masanobu Endoh (the creator of the play). This easter egg is absent from illicit copies of the play.
