Xenocrat
Xénocrate , born towards -396 with Chalcédoine (current Kadiköy) in Bithynie (current Turkey), died in -314 with Athens, is a Platonic Philosophe Greek, Scholarque of the Académie of -339 to its death.
There were five other Xénocrate in ancient Greece.
Biography
Born in Bithynie, Xénocrate gains Athens in its youth. It follows there initially the teaching of Eschine, before joining the Académie Plato in 376. In 367, it accompanies its Master in Sicily, at the court of Denys Old the, Tyran of Syracuse. After the death of Plato, it is invited to Tassos in 374 with Aristote. There remain five years there.
With died of Speusippe, he is elected Scholarque (vice-chancellor of the Academy), in front of Héraclite of the Bridge and Ménédème.
