Xavier Pichon
Xavier Pichon , born with Which Nhon (Vietnam) the June 18th 1937, is a geodynamician French.
Laid off in Physical with the University of Caen in 1959, it supports its thesis of Doctorat to the Université of Strasbourg in 1966. It holds since 1986 the pulpit of geodynamics to the Collège de France.
It publishes in particular a Plate tectonics model of in 1966. This model based on six plates includes their relative displacements.
Brief biography
- 1963 : research assistant with the University Columbia New York, the United States,
- in 1969 it takes the head of the department of geology of the center of oceanology of Brest,
- in 1978 it becomes professor with the Université Pierre and Marie Curie,
- in 1984 it is named director of the department of geology of the National university.
- in 1986 professor at the Collège de France.
