Xavier Bertrand is a man Politique French, Gaulliste, member of the RPR then of the UMP. It is since May 18th, 2007 Minister for Labor, Social relations and Solidarity in the government Francois Fillon (renewed in the government Francois Fillon 2 on June 19th).

Origins, studies and family
Born on March 21st, 1965 with Châlons-sur-Marne (the Marne), Xavier Bertrand is the son of Jean-Pierre Bertrand, tallies banking with the SGAM, and of Madeleine Bedin, employed of bank.Xavier Bertrand carries out his academic works with the unit of formation and search for Rheims, where it obtains a control of public law, then a Diploma of specialized higher learning (OF) of local government.

Political career
Militant as of the 16 years age to the RPR, Xavier Bertrand engages very early in policy.

After the victory of the " non" , Jean-Pierre Raffarin resigns. After a few days of hesitation between Dominique de Villepin and Nicolas Sarkozy, Jacques Chirac chooses the first like new Prime Minister. Probably supported by Philippe Douste-Blazy, Xavier Bertrand replaces this one like Ministre for Health. He escapes the fate thus from the other juppeists from the government like Eric Woerth or Xavier Darcos whose ousting by Dominique de Villepin is interpreted like a reaction to the support of Alain Juppe for the solution Nicolas Sarkozy for Matignon.
Its passage by the ministry is marked by the epidemic of chikungunya to the Meeting, by the Interdiction to smoke in the public places decided in 2006, and the creation of a medical body of reserve to face a possible crisis in France or abroad.
Xavier Bertrand announces on November 29th, 2006 his support for Nicolas Sarkozy for the presidential election, and is named on January 15th, 2007 carries word of countryside of Nicolas Sarkozy.
