Xasthur

Xasthur is a group of Black metal of the the United States. It was formed in 1995 under the aegis of Malefic to Alhambra in California. It became a solo project in 1999 because of its difficulty of finding a line-up fixed and its will of independence. This group with the particularly dark music has as subjects despair, the suicide, the astral voyages…

Xasthur is thus the vision misanthropist and heinous of only one heart, all the force and the authenticity of its music. The music is inspired by groups like Burzum, Anathema or Forgotten Woods, Forgotten Tomb or Katatonia. It is thus the slowness, the heaviness, the melancholy and the sadness which dominate the table. Element to be noted, it is after the listening of the album " Thousand Swords" of Graveland that desired Malefic to create the unhealthiest music which is.

The sound is based on layers of guitars extremely saturated faggots of distortion, through which some clear/acoustic notes bore. The crasseuses melodies are supported by throbbing tablecloths of keyboards. A subtle keyboard is used brilliantly, only to accentuate oppression, the alienation and the heaviness of the parts. The melodies are hypnotic, suffocating and prints of a serious melancholy.

The music of Xasthur is terribly cold, macabre and alienating, the tempo is rather slow, which of course accentuates the oppression felt with the listening of these sonorities. Some passages even some parts have a faster tempo but it is not the general tendency of the suicidal black of Xasthur, which approaches much the Doom metal, see funeral doom.

The voice is something of very important in the music of Xasthur, a voice which incomprehensible, is saturated and terribly tortured. These ghostly lamentations seem to tear off abysses painfully, and they offer much personality to the music of Xasthur, in addition to traduirent the immense distress of Malefic.
