X 73500

Description

The X 73500 , also called “Rail-car FOR THE THIRD TIME” or “HAS” FOR THE THIRD TIME, are Autorail S monocaisse ensuring the services FOR THE THIRD TIME mainly in the not electrified zones.

They were developed within the framework of a co-operation between the the SNCF, Deutsche Bahn and the companies DE DIETRICH Ferroviaire in France and Linke-Hoffmann-Busch in Germany, two companies which were repurchased by Alstom.

Second generation of modern rail-cars FOR THE THIRD TIME after the X 72500, the X 73500 constitutes a very important series (with their derivatives X 73900 for service roads transborder), intended for the rural service roads or sometimes périurbaines.

Their modern design equipped them with unknown equipment on the preceding generations of rail-cars:

  • posting for the travellers (interior and outside);
  • before reinforced (zone of absorption in the event of shock and reinforced cabin);
  • zone lowered for the access of the people to reduced mobility (with accessible toilets and broad access doors in the low part);
  • cooled ventilation;
  • electromagnetic shoes of emergency braking…

They are couplables in multiple units to 3 elements, between them only.

CFL acquired 6 similar rail-cars, numbered 2101 to 2106. These rail-cars delivered between October 2000 and April 2001 were taken again by the SNCF and change the numbers X 73813 to 73818.

The German railroads ordered rail-cars similar (but not compatible), the VT 641.

Service

Almost all the areas (except Corsica Ile-de-France and , with particular statuses) acquired of this type of material: only the Lorraine and PACA do not have X 73500 (Lorraine lays out on the other hand of X 73900).

They ensure of many rural service roads.

They carry out also connections périurbaines, for example:

They must also sometimes carry out ways on lines charged: this situation rises from the average reliability of the X 72500 that certain areas were sulky. The AGC, whose X 76500, will make it possible to put an end to these service roads and to redeploy it.
