XXIe Egyptian dynasty
Resides at Tanis which becomes the capital and from where the Pharaons will exert a power which will not exceed the Low-Egypt. They will have to compose with the Thébains Pontiffs: the kings Large priests of Amon who reside them at Thèbes, often by establishing solid bonds by dynastic marriages.
By succeeding Ramsès {{XI}}, Smendès is the founder and first Pharaon of this 21e dynasty, known as Tanite (of the name of its capital).
