XDCAM is a system for professional Numeric camera introduces by Sony in 2003.

This camera uses as support a disc rather than a K7. A time of autonomy lengthened, a flexibility and a panoply of utilities place the XDCAM at the head of the professional cameras.

Products XDCAM use a Laser Bleu to record the audio and video contents on the Professional Disc of Sony, a disc of 23,3 GB similar to the Blu-Ray. It has a size of 12 cm and is placed in a protective cartridge. According to the video camera, the format of compression can be in DVCAM or IMX.
