X-Force is a team of mutants belonging to the universe of fiction of Marvel Comics. Appeared for the first time in New Mutants vol. 1 #100, created by Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld, it gave place to its own series continues of 1991 to 2002, and with a mini-series published between the end 2004 and 2005. It was about the one of the many series derived from the popular frankness X-Men.

History

The first X-Force was created starting from the junior team of X-Men in the Eighties, the Nouveaux Mutants (New Mutants). Carried out by the Cyborg Cable, X-Force was generally more militant and aggressive that X-Men.

Although shown to concentrate on exaggerated drawings full with muscles and weapons instead of being interested to develop the characters, the series was enormously popular at the end of the years 1990. Its popularity decreased after the departure of the original draftsman of the title Rob Liefeld. Marvel on several occasions tried redynamiser the title between 1995 and 2001, with a variable success. Finally, the weakness of the sales coupled with the objectives of Bill Jemas (which had just become owner of Marvel) pushed Marvel to be gotten rid of the traditional team. Bill Jemas indeed wished to stop the multiplication of the mutant series derived from X-Men to center themselves on the principal team of the mutants of Marvel and to make place for new series. Thus the series Generation X finished , X-Man , Bishop , Gambit and X-Men: The Hidden Years . Only X-Force survived (in a certain manner) this purging.

In 2001, Marvel introduced a new X-Force team, written by Peter Milligan and drawn by Mike Allred. Politically incorrect, keeping only the name of the first team, it was made up of young mutants gathered and promoted in order to make of them media stars by a corporation. The team was renamed X-Statix in 2002. After its end, Marvel left a mini-series X-Force 6 episodes scenarized by Fabian Nicieza and drawn by Rob Liefeld, using some of the original characters.
