X-112

The X-112 is an amphibious machine with Ground effect experimental, intended to try out a new type of fast maritime transport. It is the first WIG (Wing In Ground effect) of the German engineer Alexander Lippisch, working on behalf of the Collins company in the USA. Preceded by many tests on scale models 1/8 and 1/4 tested out of basin by hull and blower, this prototype was drawn and built in 1961-62 and was tested in 1963. General characteristics:

  • Single-seat
  • Driving 19 kw (26 cv), propeller with before
  • Configuration " bateau" : catamaran
  • Configuration " avion" : two airfoils out of tandem, wing before low indeed of ground, wing postpone high.
