Wynton Kelly
Wynton Kelly (Jamaica, 2.12.1931- Toronto, Canada, 12.04.1971) is a Pianiste and American Compositeur .
Biography
After a childhood with Brooklyn, it begins professionally in 1943. He works with the orchestras of Rythm and blues of Eddie " Lockjaw" Davis and Hal Singer. It accompanies then the singer Dinah Washington by 1951 with 1954. As of 1951, it engraves some titles for Blue Note. It accompanies also Lester Young and the following year Dizzy Gillespie. After its military service of 1952 with 1954, it becomes one of the most required guides of the scene Jazz. It accompanies the largest soloists Hard Bop such Sony Rollins, Cannonball Adderley and Johnny Griffin. In 1959, it is recruited by Miles Davis. It will remain there until 1963, continuing after its departure its collaboration with the bass player Paul Chambers and the beater Jimmy Cobb. They formed together one of the best rhythm sections of the history of the Jazz. Of 1958 with 1963, it records many discs under its name and takes part in not fewer meetings as a sideman.
Style
Pianist of a great subtlety whose play is anchored in the roots of the Blues. Cannonball Adderley said of him: " It is a marvellous soloist, able to play as well the thing subtle as of swinguer. Wynton is also the best guide of the world. " It was a influential Pianiste on the style of rhythmic the Hard Bop.
