Wynand Janssens

Wynand Janssens is a Belgian Architecte , which one knows only that it was born in 1835.

Biographical elements

Wynand Janssens forged its reputation of architect on an original expertise, that of the Public baths, for which it drew very many projects (streets of the Tanners in 1852, rue du Borgval in 1878). It was even split of a guide of construction to the use of the architects confronted with the particular engineering problems of the sanitary institutions.

Whereas it is question of building a news Produce exchange to replace the too narrow and decayed building of the street of the Bishop, Janssens develops two projects which it locates at the site of worthy the church Saint Nicolas's Day and of the theater of the royal Galeries Saint-Hubert. Fortunately, these drafts are not retained. To comfort it, the Ville of Brussels requires of him to complete the church Holy-Catherine that Joseph Poelaert undertook to build on the basin of the port which has just been filled. The architect will remain scrupulously faithful to the architectural step of his famous predecessor.
