Wy-known as-Pretty-Village is a common French, located in the department of the Val-d'Oise and the area Île-de-France. Its inhabitants is called Vicusois (be).

Geography

Wy-known as-Pretty-Village is a small village of the French Vexin, located in the valley of the Aubette, with a score of kilometers in the west of Pontoise and approximately 50 km in the North-West of Paris.

History

The name Wy comes from the Latin Vicus , firm; its nickname would be due to an exclamation of the king Henri IV, stray at the time of a shooting party in 1590, which would have required: but which is this pretty village?

Saint Romain would have been born there in the year 585. According to the legend, it would have made spout out the source of the Aubette, supposed to have healing virtues for the eyes and which was a long time a goal of Pèlerinage.

The commune is included since 1995 in the perimeter of the Regional natural park of French Vexin.
