Wuthering Heights is a group Danish of progressive Metal. The group mixes strong influences progressive Rock, Musique folk with the use of Irish Flûte and Cornemuse, and heavy metal.

Biography

The group was formed in 1989, under the name " Angelica". They change name quickly and record their first demonstration under the name of Minas Tirith, allusion to the work of Tolkien which impregnates their texts still today. Tales From the Woods is published fine 1992.

The group records its second demonstration in 1994, under the name " Vergelmir". Recorded with the Sweet Silence Studio of Copenhagen (studio having accommodated Metallica or Blind Guardian), this demonstration was very well accommodated by the underground medium in particular in Italy and Germany.

The group again makes speak about him in 1996, under its final name, when he proposes a title for a compilation, " Extremity Rising Vol.2" label Serious Entertainment . The piece Sorrow In Memoriam contains already all the elements characteristic of Wuthering Heights , long piece, instruments folk, left orchestral, raised tempo, etc

In 1997, the group signs with a German Gothic metal label, and produces a demonstration of Within . The very progressive orientation of the album does not like the label which breaks the contract before even the exit of the disc. But several other producers show themselves then interested, and Wuthering Heights sign in 1998 at an American label of progressive Métal, The Laser' S Edge/Sensory. The group re-records then Within , first disc of a trilogy. The recording proceeds in August and September 1998, under the direction of Hansen Jacob. The group was then composed of Erik Ravn (guitar), Rune S. Brink (keyboards), Kasper Gram (low), Morten Nødgaard (battery) and Kristian " Krille" Andrén with the song (Street Talk, Mori Memorandum). The design of the album is created by Kristian Wählin, (famous for its work with King Diamond, Dissection, Bathory, Morgana Lefay. The disc is very well accommodated everywhere in the world. The group occurs in concert with the Denmark, end 1999 and beginning 2000, with Peter Jensen (Sinphonia, Lost Horizons) with the keyboards.

Dissensions appear in the group running 2000, which lead at the beginning of Kasper Gram and Morten Nødgaard. For the realization of its second album, the group engages temporarily the Swedish guitarist Henrik Flyman (ZooL), the Italian bass player Lorenzo Dehó (Time Machine, Khali) and Morten G. Sørensen (Aurora) with the battery. The recording begins in June 2001, in Jailhouse Studio, under the direction of Tommy Hansen (Helloween, Pretty Maids, Twilight, Beyond Twilight, Chroming Pink). To Travel For Evermore leaves during the summer 2002 a little everywhere in the world.

Not having the possibility of occurring on scene, Erik is immediately put to compose the third album. Far From The Madding Crowd is again recorded in Jailhouse Studios with Tommy Hansen during the summer 2003. The song is this time ensured by the Nile Patrik Johansson (Astral Doors), Erik holding the low one for the recording. Far From The Madding Crowd leaves fine 2003, and wants to be more melody and more folk that the preceding album.

The group gives its first concert to the the United States, with famous the Prog Power Festival of Atlanta, in August 2004. the group is then composed of Andreas Lindahl to the keyboards, Martin Arendal as guitarist lead and teddy Möller with low. Success is enormous, and will be immortalisé by a DVD (to be left in 2006).

During the summer 2005, the group takes again the concerts in Europe, with in particular of the participations in the Park Rock Festival in Sweden (Toke Skjønnemand temporarily replacing Martin Arendal, wounded with the hand). In 2006, the fourth album, The Shadow Cabinet , leaves.
