Wuhan (武汉; Pinyin : Wǔhàn ), on banks of the Chang Jiang is the capital of the province Hubei and more the big city of China not to be in the extreme is country. It has the administrative statute of under-provincial city. Its population is of 7,8 million inhabitants.
Geography
It is the twelfth plus big cities of China, with the varied landscapes: mountains, lake, river. History
It is also the city where in October 1911 began the Soulèvement of Wuchang (武昌起義 pinyin : wǔchāng qǐyì), having led to the capacity Sun Yat-SEN, leader of the first Chinese revolution, thus transforming the imperial capacity of the Dynasty Qing into Republic of China.Hankou was a French concession, end of the Guerre of opium (1896) to 1946, after a first retrocession proposed by the mode of Vichy in 1943. There is always today an important French community with Wuhan.
During the Second world war, the city was tested hard by the army Showa (Japanese) which used inter alia the Chemical weapons with 375 recoveries in order to make sure of the control of the area to the autumn 1938. In spite of the violence of the means used, the Japanese occupation however was supplemented only at the summer 1939.
There is an important zone of economic development in the suburbs of Hanyan. Wuhan is the town of birth of Wu Yi, vice-premier female of RP.
Language
Although one speaks the Mandarin there, as in the remainder of China, a local dialect, the Wuhanhua (武汉话), is always largely spoken there. He close to the dialects is spoken in the province about the Sichuan and Hunan.
Education
The University of Wuhan sign inter alia the French and made cultural exchanges with the France, in particular with the universities of Nancy - Metz. A bust of Alain Peyrefitte, Sinologist and politician French, is set up there. A French-speaking medical die has developed for 10 years. Professors of the Medical college of Nancy will teach their specialities in French language with the students of this die. Each year, 15 of them are accommodated in training course with the Faculty and the CHU of Nancy. Thanks to this collaboration, the Zhongnan university hospital must become the first Franco-Chinese university hospital.Wuhan University off Technology, accommodates as for it French students in last year of school of engineers with the EFREI (School of Information Technologies and Management), for one or two six-month periods of studies.
The university of Wuhan is the first Chinese university which takes part in the teaching of the license of management, French national diploma. This program which accommodates more than 100 Chinese students, is the subject preparatory of one year of training of the French language. The students who will have validated four first half of the year, will be able to finish the two last six-month periods of studies at the university of Lille2 (UFR University of the Businesses), where the same diploma is delivered. The lesson is exempted by a French and Chinese teaching staff.
Economy
The city shelters the principal factory construction in China of the French car manufacturer PSA Peugeot Citroen, the site of assembly of Wuhan. It is the town of China which receives the most French investments.In 2005, total GDP was of 223,8 billion Yuan S, and the GDP per capita of: 26238 yuans.
